In order to understand Wolfgang Köppe as an individual and artist it is not enough to make a cursory appointment or to throw a glance at his galery or studio.
You won't get to know Wolfgang Köppe until you dael with his paintings and sculptures, trying to understand their content out of the natural environment.
To call him a pure local painter of the "Dübener Heide" would mean to limit intentionally the creative variety reflected in the work of the 81-years-old artist. The range of his motives is too wide.
